Use the Convert WordPress plugin or manual script to enable A/B, split-URL, or multivariate tests on your WordPress site.

The Convert + WordPress integration enables WordPress site owners to run conversion experiments easily. You can use the Convert Experiences WordPress plugin (available through the WordPress plugin repository) to install Convert with minimal effort. The plugin handles injecting the Convert tracking snippet and passes contextual page data (e.g. page type, category, tags) to Convert.

Alternatively, for custom or headless WordPress setups, you can manually install the Convert tracking script (for example in header.php) or via a theme custom hook.

Once installed, your WordPress site can power experiments in Convert (A/B, split URL, multivariate) with proper tracking of variation exposure, goals, and revenue (when configured).

Key Capabilities

  • One-click installation via WordPress plugin “Convert Experiences” from WordPress plugin repository
  • Automatic injection of Convert tracking snippet across pages without editing templates
  • Plugin sends page metadata (e.g. page type, category, tags) automatically to Convert
  • Option for manual installation (e.g. inserting snippet in theme header) for custom setups
  • Full support for A/B, split-URL, and multivariate experiments through Convert on WordPress sites

Benefits

  • Lower barrier to entry for WordPress users (no dev required for simple setup)
  • Experimentation on blogs, marketing pages, content sites, not just commerce
  • Access to Convert’s full reporting and variation tracking without heavy plugin dependencies
  • Flexibility for custom or headless themes by allowing manual script control
  • Leverage contextual WordPress metadata (categories, tags, page types) for segmentation in experiments

"I've worked with wordpress for about 15 years now and split testing was always one of those topics I avoided like the plague. I'm happy to say that Convert.com not only got me past those initial fears because of the simplicity of setup and ease of use, but they improved my confidence in my ability to perform accurate and reliable split tests so we can make better decisions about changes to our website."

Convert and Wordpress

WordPress is an open-source content management system (CMS) used by millions of websites globally, powering everything from personal blogs to enterprise sites. It offers flexibility, extensibility, and a huge ecosystem of themes and plugins.

Use Cases

Test headline variations on blog posts

Problem: You want to test which headline drives more article engagement or click-throughs. Solution: Use the plugin to run different headline variants and track engagement or click goals in Convert. Outcome: You discover which phrasing performs best and deploy it across your site.

Optimize landing page templates

Problem: You have multiple landing pages (e.g. for campaigns) using WordPress and want to test layout changes. Solution: Run layout variants using Convert on those pages via the plugin. Outcome: You learn which structure or call-to-action combination yields better conversions without redesign globally.

Experiment on category / archive pages

Problem: You want to test different listing layouts or featured article formats. Solution: Use the plugin, which sends category metadata to Convert, to run experiments scoped to archives. Outcome: You pick better display logic or ranking that improves engagement or downstream conversions.

Run A/B tests on WordPress landing pages for campaigns

Problem: You need to test campaign landing pages built in WordPress (e.g. via page builders) but want consistent tracking. Solution: Use the Convert plugin to inject tracking and then run variants of page builder designs in Convert. Outcome: You find higher converting landing page designs which you then scale.

Gradual rollout of theme changes or redesigns

Problem: You are redesigning your WordPress site but want validation before full migration. Solution: Run experiments comparing old vs new theme templates on parts of the site. Outcome: You roll out only the design changes that prove better, reducing risk.
